Course Description

The importance of building enclosure performance is receiving more attention as it is one of the largest remaining opportunities for improving energy efficiency, comfort and moisture management in new and existing buildings. Implementation of continuous air barriers is key to enclosure success and requires contributions from designers, installers and building operators.

See specific content information below in the "Attend and you Will Learn" section.

Why You Should Attend

In the course, you will learn how building performance is improved with good practice air-barrier design for new buildings and with enclosure-diagnostic and repair strategies for existing buildings.

See specific content information below in the "Attend and you Will Learn" section.

Who Should Attend

This course will benefit designers, specifiers, installers and facilities staff.

Attend and You Will Receive

Attend and You Will Learn / Expected Outcome

Attend and You Will Learn

  • Basic components of the building enclosure and the possible consequences resulting from design flaws and construction deficiencies in the enclosure
  • Design details, construction sequencing and installation practices that will result in energy-efficient building enclosures that will complement high-performance MEP systems
  • Building Enclosure Commissioning (BECx), including process, design review, and functional performance testing for the enclosures
  • Real-world examples of performance problems, due to deficiencies in buildings enclosures, in new and existing buildings, with an emphasis on minimizing moisture problems
